Premier League side Man Utd have made a €30m offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in Italy.

Last week it was suggested that the Senegalese centre-back would be available for around £35million this summer, and that new Everton manager Rafa Benitez had recommended the 30-year-old to the Everton hierarchy.

Koulibaly has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years and, in particular Man Utd, with his club valuing him up to £100m in previous transfer windows.

It was reported over the weekend that Everton had made a bid for Koulibaly and now it seems Man Utd have followed their lead.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Monday that Man Utd had lodged a €30m offer for Koulibaly but that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis had turned it down.

And today another report from Italy, in the form of Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), has backed up the initial report from yesterday,

Corriere dello Sport says that ‘yes, at the moment his agent, Fali Ramadani, has delivered a €30m offer signed by Manchester United’ for Koulibaly.

Luciano Spalletti is hoping that Koulibaly stays with De Laurentiis demanding €50m from any interested club if they want to buy the 30-year-old this summer.

Napoli head coach Spalletti recently attempted to pour cold water on rumours of a move, he said: “Koulibaly is one of the vice-captains in this squad.

“As far as I am concerned, he is staying at Napoli. It’s not easy to find a replacement for him, all his teammates appreciate him and I’ve realised he talks constantly on the pitch. Everyone respects his presence in the locker room.”

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Sunday that Man Utd were hoping to wrap up a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s England international Jadon Sancho as soon as possible.

Speaking after their friendly victory over Derby County, Solskjaer said: “I don’t think it is a secret that we have made a deal with Dortmund. We are working on it. There a couple of things (to complete) on the paperwork.”
