According to reports, Bayern Munich ‘insiders’ are ‘fearful’ that comments about Harry Kane made by their honorary president will ‘come back to bite’ them.

Kane is out of contract in 2024 and he is yet to commit his future to Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of next season.

The Englishman scored 30 Premier League goals in 2022/23 and he is attracting the interest of several huge European clubs.

Erik ten Hag is understood to be a huge admirer of Kane but Man Utd are reportedly unwilling to become embroiled in a saga for the striker. They are being linked with Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund as a potential alternative.

Bayern Munich are understood to be moving for him, though. Their honorary president – Uli Hoeness – stated last week that “Kane signalled very clearly that his decision was made and if it stays that way, we’ll get him”.

He added: “Levy is clever. First we have to get him to name a price. He plays for time, is a great professional. I appreciate him very much. But on the other side [at Bayern] there aren’t any people who have been doing this since yesterday.

“He wants to play internationally [in Europe]. Tottenham won’t be there next season, unlike our club. He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe.

“What we really like about Kane is that his advisors, that is his father and his brother, are very pleasant. So far they have always stood by what they have promised. And if it stays that way, then that’s okay.”

The Daily Mail are now reporting that ‘Hoeness’ Kane comments come back to bite Bayern’ with ‘insiders fear the comments could prove more damaging to their pursuit of the Tottenham captain’.

It is noted that ‘the last thing Bayern want to do is rile Daniel Levy and make negotiations even more difficult than they already are’.

Bayern Munich intend to bid again ‘ before considering whether to wait for next year’ when the striker may be out of contract. On interest from Man Utd and Chelsea, the report adds.

‘Both Manchester United and Chelsea will be waiting if Kane runs down his contract while Paris St Germain are in the background now.

‘Levy is understood to have a good relationship with PSG’s owners and they have shown an inclination to bid if Kane is willing to join them. They are also running meetings with Juventus over Dusan Vlahovic and have spoken to Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.’
