‘Kane or nothing’ – Man Utd target not wanted by rivals as Tottenham star is at centre of summer ‘plan’

Kane may leave Tottenham

Bayern Munich reportedly remain interested in Harry Kane and they will not look to sign Man Utd target Victor Osimhen as a potential alternative.

The Bundesliga giants are in the market for a new forward as they are yet to replace Robert Lewandowski, who signed for Barcelona last summer.

Kane has regularly been mentioned as a potential target in recent months. If he decides not to extend his contract, he could leave Spurs this summer for a sizable fee so he does not depart on a free transfer in 2024.

The Englishman has been in great form this term as he has netted 17 goals in 23 Premier League appearances.

Another striker who could be on the market this summer is Osimhen. He has been sensational for Napoli this term and has scored 17 goals in 18 games for the Serie A outfit.

Man Utd are being linked with both players as it is known that they want to sign a new striker this summer. This follows Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure at the end of last year.

Christian Falk is reporting that Bayern Munich have not “knocked at Osimhen’s door” and he has hinted that it could be the case that is Kane “or nothing” for them this summer.

‘We have to go back down the years to when Pep Guardiola was the manager of Bayern Munich to get an idea of the club’s stance on Victor Osimhen,’ Falk wrote for Caught Offside.

‘Pep famously said ‘Thiago or nothing’ and Bayern Munich had to bring Thiago Alcântara in then – in the sense of Bayern’s pursuit of strikers, the same feeling could be applied to Harry Kane.

‘Bayern’s plan, as things stand, is that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gets a new contract. There are a lot of rumours flying about, which I’ve discussed with Bayern Munich officials and I can say there’s no truth in the links with Osimhen. So don’t believe in the rumours about Lautaro Martínez, Dušan Vlahović, Marcus Rashford or Muani.

‘If there’s a chance to get Kane – Bayern will try. If there’s no chance, perhaps there won’t be a new striker at Bayern this summer, provided that Choupo-Moting signs a new contract because they’ve got back-up in Mathys Tel who has really impressed the club with his performances in training.

‘Bayern don’t have a lot of money available at the moment that they can freely spend in the market. Osimhen is too expensive and the club haven’t knocked at his door.’

Kane was previously linked with Man City in 2021. Thierry Henry feels that they should have signed him instead of Erling Haaland.

“I thought Man City were going to go for Harry Kane. We all know they wanted him but I thought they were going to come back in,” Henry said.

“I thought he is the typical striker for City. I think it would’ve been better. He became complete, he became an all-around player and this is what I like about him.
