Roy Keane has heaped praise on Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as he has been “showing a bit more courage” in recent weeks.

Sancho secured his move to Man Utd last summer from Borussia Dortmund. They paid around £73m to sign him.

The Englishman struggled at the start of this season but his performances have improved since the appointment of Ralf Rangnick in December.

The 21-year-old enjoyed one of his best games for Man Utd on Sunday. He provided two assists as he helped his team beat Leeds United 4-2.

The Red Devils remain fourth in the Premier League table. They are now four points clear of fifth-placed West Ham United.

Keane said post-match that Sancho is “getting his swagger” back:

“He’s grown in confidence and is getting the United way. He’s getting braver and showing a bit more courage,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“We talk about what he’d done at Dortmund, playing for Dortmund and Man United is completely different. Dortmund are nowhere near as big as Man United.

“It’s those little details that come from confidence and getting that swagger and it’s nice to see because he was getting heavily criticised.”

On Anthony Elanga, Keane added: “This young kid Elanga, he’s a really good player. [He was] positive and [the win was] well deserved in the end. They made hard work of it but United were by far the better team.”

Elsewhere, Paul Scholes thinks Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes was “too soft” in the lead up to Leeds’ second goal:

Fernandes was robbed of the ball by Adam Forshaw in the build-up to Leeds’ second goal with VAR checking the goal and ruling that the Portugal international had not been fouled.

And Scholes thought Fernandes should’ve been “stronger” in that situation and was “looking for a foul”.

“I think Fernandes has to be stronger,” Scholes told Premier League Productions. “He’s almost looking for a foul before anything happens and I don’t think it is a foul.

“Fernandes has got to be stronger there, that’s a little bit too soft. His head is up in the air looking for a foul before he comes in.”
