World’s priciest keeper among Prem’s worst; Alisson reigns

Date published: Saturday 1st February 2020 7:26

Frank Lampard warned Kepa Arrizabalaga last week that he needed to up his game if he wanted to remain Chelsea’ No.1. If you look at his statistics, it’s easy to see why the Blues boss isn’t happy with the world’s most expensive goalkeeper…

Of the current Premier League No.1s, no keeper has saved a lower percentage of the shots they have faced. The Spaniard has been beaten by a bigger percentage of shots faced from outside the penalty area than anyone else, and he has saved only half the shots Chelsea’s opponents have taken from inside the box. Roberto was dreadful in West Ham’s net but even he’s out-performed Kepa.

Alisson leads the way in all categories though the Liverpool keeper has been forced into slightly fewer than a third of the number of saves that Bernd Leno has had to make playing behind Arsenal’s defence

The numbers also make worrying reading for England, with Jordan Pickford struggling in Everton’s net. Dean Henderson might be the answer there…
