Martin Keown likened Ronald Koeman to Louis van Gaal after the latest Everton setback.
The Toffees were held at home in the Europa League by Apollon Limassol on Thursday, this despite their opponents being reduced to ten men when 2-1 down.
But they equalised late on to salvage a point as Everton looked poor after a brief upturn in form in the Premier League at the weekend.
Koeman claimed that his players are “scared” to play forwards, and Keown laid into the manager after the match.
“It would have been interesting to speak to Wayne Rooney after the final whistle,” Keown told BT Sport. “Does he almost now feel like he’s playing for van Gaal?
“Is he back to the Manchester United-looking team that he played for just a couple of seasons ago? Because it was slow, they were ponderous and I’m looking at Koeman and wondering is he using the best players at his disposal?
“Mirallas and Lookman on the bench, they’re good runners with the ball.”
