Pundit tips Liverpool to sign Haaland because of ‘slight issue’

Liverpool should sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to solve their “slight issue” in attack, according to former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips.

Haaland only joined up with Borussia Dortmund in January after being linked with a move to Manchester United for months.

And the 19-year-old has continued his outrageous goalscoring exploits since joining the Bundesliga outfit with 12 goals in ten appearances in all competitions.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have scored 30 Premier League goals between them this season but Phillips reckons Liverpool still need an extra goalscorer.

“Mane and Salah are not out and out strikers,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“It might be an area Klopp looks at in the summer. It is a slight issue. They lack an out and out goalscorer.

“Haaland – imagine him playing for Liverpool as their number nine. Mane and Salah playing off of him and Firmino just behind. Wow. Imagine that front four.

“I could see him there. I think his movement – he can travel with the ball and hold it up.

“If you sign a player like that you make it work. It would be an awesome front four.”
