Jurgen Klinsmann has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho should not be written off just yet as they can still win the Premier League.

Mourinho’s side made a great start to the new campaign, as they only lost one of their opening 11 league games. This form placed them at the top of the league on numerous occasions in the first few weeks of the season.

But they dropped points late on away at Crystal Palace, which was followed by more late drama at Anfield against Liverpool.

Man Utd’s accidental title challenge in winners and losers

Spurs were drawing 1-1 with Jurgen Klopp’s side before Roberto Firmino headed in the winner with moments to spare. Mourinho’s men suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Leicester City days later.

Next up was a trip to Wolves and Romain Saiss netted in the 86th-minute to make it 1-1 to ensure it finished all square at Molineux.

Spurs are without a win in four league games dating back to their 2-0 North London derby victory over Arsenal at the start of December.

Klinsmann told ESPN that despite their dip in form, Tottenham can still go onto win the title:

“They are still there. It is a crucial time for how they get through winter, and then look at how things will look like. Mourinho is in known for being strategic, don’t write them off. They are still contenders.”
