Jurgen Klopp was coy when quizzed over a potential early Liverpool arrival for Naby Keita.
Keita will join Liverpool next summer after the Reds paid an £8m premium on top of his £47m release clause.
But reports in Germany state that the club are looking to offer a further payment to RB Leipzig so that Keita will move to Anfield this month.
The club have yet to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho – and likely will not – but Klopp offered little in the way of insight with regards to Keita.
“My understanding is there is nothing to say,” he replied when asked whether Keita could join early.
“When we had this conversation around Coutinho, I said the same.
“I won’t start doing that now. He is a player of Leipzig. He will be a Liverpool player in the summer.
“That is all we know.”
