Jurgen Klopp has explained why he chose not to start Roberto Firmino against West Brom on Saturday.
Liverpool face the bottom side just three days before they host Roma at Anfield in the Champions League semi-final.
Klopp decided to drop Firmino to the bench for the visit to The Hawthorns, instead electing to start Danny Ings.
It is only the sixth Premier League game the Brazilian has not started all season, and Klopp says he is simply using the squad at his disposal.
“We have the players available. Now we have Alberto [Moreno], we have Ragnar [Klavan], we have [Danny] Ingsy – and that helps us a lot,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“That’s what we did during the season when we could – we changed the team from time to time, we rotated a little bit and brought in really fresh legs.
“OK, we had a normal week but at the beginning of the week one or two players had a few issues. So pretty early in the week it was clear I wanted to choose that line-up.”
