Philippe Coutinho could play his first competitive football since November in Liverpool’s EFL Cup semi-final clash with Southampton on Wednesday.
Coutinho has missed seven Premier League games with an ankle injury but has returned to full training.
“It was six or seven weeks, that’s long,” said Klopp at his pre-match press conference. “He needs minutes in training and as soon as possible minutes in games. No final decision.
“He’s had his third complete session with the team, tomorrow the fourth.
“I think Phil is fit enough to be part of the squad. That could be minutes. It depends on the game.”
Klopp also reports that James Milner has “no issues anymore” after a calf injury while Jordan Henderson’s heel injury is “still painful, but he’s doing well”.
“We have no new injuries and all the rest are on their way back,” said the Liverpool manager.
