Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Dejan Lovren will remain at the club to maintain his squad depth.

The Croatian defender has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen and Roma over the summer transfer window with reports saying that Liverpool are looking for £15m.

However, Klopp needs a big squad again this season and the German boss seemed to hint that Lovren would be staying.

“We don’t talk about transfers in the press conference, there’s nothing to say about it,” Klopp told reporters.

“Last season we had four CBs and even in CL we played with Fabinho at the back.”

On the transfer window, Klopp added: “The transfer business is a European business, or a world business. we have been used to Russia and China being open for longer but it’s different when the Spanish and the Italian leagues are still open because they are direct competitors.”
