Jurgen Klopp has issued an apology after calling a translator “sh*t” in his pre-match press conference before Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg.

Klopp was annoyed that the translator, who was sat next to the Liverpool manager, suggested that Henderson had said that the Reds would “go easy” on the Austrian side.

When asked about previous final match deciders Liverpool have had in the Champions League, Henderson actually said “that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy”.

The Reds beat Salzburg on Tuesday night and secured top spot in their group to progress to the last-16 of the Champions League and Klopp made a point of saying “sorry” for his outburst.

“Before we start I’d like to apologise for yesterday,” Klopp said post-match.

“I know that it was unfair and even more so as it happened in public.

“It was completely stupid. I didn’t like the way my answer was translated, but the way I addressed it was stupid.

“I should have done better and I’m sorry.”
