Jurgen Klopp has called on Liverpool fans to be patient with Dominik Szoboszlai as the £60m signing looks to settle in at Anfield.

Liverpool have made an excellent start to the transfer window, with Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister through the door already.

Szoboszlai will look to add a new dynamic to Liverpool’s midfield next season and plenty of fans are excited about the new signing.

The 22-year-old is capable of playing a variety of roles and he likes to impact things in the final third.

During the 2022-23 Bundesliga campaign, he scored six goals and produced eight assists for RB Leipzig.

His underlying numbers are also impressive as he creates 2.3 chances and takes 1.9 shots per game.

While plenty of fans are excited about the 22-year-old, Klopp has called for patience to allow him to naturally develop.

“There is no pressure, though. Dominik is still a very young player,” Klopp told the club website.

“He has so much development ahead of him and this means it makes sense for us all to be patient and to give him the time and space to allow his talent to come through within our team.

“The good thing is we have supporters who understand this process. I know the fans are as excited as we are but I am also aware, because I have seen it many times already, that they will be a massive help to us in terms of creating the conditions that will allow Dominik to thrive.

“From the clubs he has been at, the leagues he has played in and the family he is part of, it is very clear that he has already had an outstanding football education, so our responsibility now is to continue this education with him as part of the Liverpool family.

“Everything about this is good news and I am very grateful to everyone at the club who has contributed to making it happen. This is a signing for our present and also for our future and the work that has gone into it could not be more appreciated.”

With Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister through the door, Klopp will now turn his attention to a defensive-minded midfielder.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and they could step up their interest in the 19-year-old this week.

Liverpool are also said to be considering deals for Khephren Thuram and Ryan Gravenberch.
