Klopp: Liverpool will not sign Coutinho replacement

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the club needs to use tactics rather than transfers to reach their goals this season.

The German has made it clear that there is no chance of the club attempting to replace Philippe Coutinho, who left for Barcelona in this window.

Liverpool looked stodgy in midfield during defeats to Swansea and West Brom but Klopp says the solution will not be found in the transfer market.

“Philippe Coutinho is not to be replaced in this transfer window,” said Klopp ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Huddersfield. “We have to stop thinking about it. It’s not about replacing anybody. It’s about using our own opportunities, tools, players, tactics, all that stuff.

“We need results to reach our targets but the solution is not out there in the transfer market.

“We have to use our players. Long-term we will do a lot (in the transfer window). In the short term, I don’t think we will do a lot.”
