Klopp on celebration: ‘Nobody thought it was massively wrong’

Jurgen Klopp says he will pay his fine for running onto the pitch “no problem” after accepting that the rule is there for a reason.

The Liverpool boss ran onto the pitch to celebrate Divock Origi’s late winner in the 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Klopp has now accepted his FA charge for entering the field of play – which he apologised for after the match – and will be fined around £8,000 and warned about his future conduct.

“I couldn’t avoid it,” Klopp told reporters. “If you break the rules you have to be fined for it.

“The last time I did that was 14 years ago. I’m not as quick now.

“I can say it will not happen again.

He added: “If there was no rule then managers would constantly celebrate on the pitch.

“I don’t think anyone thought it was massively wrong.

“It happened, a fine, I’ll pay it, no problem.”
