Klopp out: Redknapp names Liverpool as his unrequited ‘love’

Harry Redknapp sees Liverpool as the “one club I’d love to have managed”.

Redknapp has been out of work since his sacking at Birmingham in 2017, his ninth post in over 30 years of coaching.

The 72-year-old is one of the most enduring managers in Premier League history with spells at West Ham, Portsmouth (twice), Southampton, Tottenham and QPR, but missed out on ever taking over at Liverpool.

His chances are more slim than ever with Jurgen Klopp steering the Reds to their sixth European crown in May, while overseeing a dominant start to this Premier League season.

Redknapp admits he wants his unrequited “love” to win the title ahead of Manchester City, albeit for his own benefit.

“If I had one club I’d love to have managed it would have been Liverpool. I loved them,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I can see them winning the league this year. Give them the title and give it to them now. I’ve had a big bet and I think the bookmakers should pay me out!”
