Klopp ‘personally requests’ Liverpool move for £50m Madrid star
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ‘personally requested’ the club make a move for Real Madrid misfit Luka Jovic, according to reports.
Jovic has endured a torrid time at Madrid, scoring just two goals in 38 games since moving from Euntracht Frankfurt for £50million in the summer of 2019.
Liverpool’s forwards have been in fine goalscoring form this season, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Divock Origi contributing 34 goals in all competitions.

But according to Fichajes (via Daily Mail), Klopp has ‘personally requested’ that the club make an offer for Jovic to bolster his forward options.
Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Jovic’s situation as they prepare for life without Alexandre Lacazette, who’s set to leave the club when his contract is up at the end of the season.
Jovic first arrived in the Spanish capital having scored 27 goals in 48 games in the 2018-19 season, but just two goals in his debut campaign saw him return to Frankfurt for the second half of last season.
The striker is now back in Madrid but is again struggling, failing to find the net in six appearances with Karim Benzema very much the main man under Carlo Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, Nicolas Anelka claims a striker linked with Real Madrid – Kylian Mbappe – needs to move from Paris Saint-Germain to challenge himself against the very best.
“You [Mbappe] have at least two choices — stay in Paris or move to Real Madrid,” Anelka said.
“Both of them can win the Champions League these days. When I was at PSG, that wasn’t the case.
“That choice depends on what you want to achieve. If you want the biggest accolades, you will have to move from PSG at some point.
“Whatever you do in Paris will be good, but somebody will always say, ‘well, you did great for PSG but it was only in France. The best leagues are in England and Spain, so you didn’t compete with the best players in the best league’.
“If you want to win the Ballon d’Or, which is what you should be looking at to echo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, you will have to compete with the best.
“You can’t say you compete with the best all the time when you are at PSG. The French league is not easy, don’t get me wrong, but I think the toughest league is in England.”
