Jurgen Klopp has named his Premier League Manager of the Season, joking that he would be “pretty close”.

Klopp believes that Pep Guardiola deserves further acclaim for guiding Manchester City to the Premier League title by what could yet be the biggest margin in Premier League history.

But the German was quick to recognise the achievements of those at the other end of the table.

When asked to name his Premier League Manager of the Season, Klopp replied: “Pep Guardiola. He has been impressive.

“What a season. Unbelievable football.”

“I’m pretty close, though,” he joked.

“David Wagner and Chris Hughton, Sean Dyche, should also be close. They have done a fantastic job in a tough league.

“Rafa at Newcastle, wow. All three promoted teams staying up is a massive achievement.”
