Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will “wait” to make a decision on Darwin Nunez’s participation against Brighton after he picked up a hamstring injury.

The scored a lovely goal in their 2-2 draw against Wolves after four matches without a goal since the World Cup break but now the Liverpool striker may have to wait for his next goal after injuring his hamstring.

Liverpool play Brighton at 3pm tomorrow as they look to bounce back from their 3-1 loss to Brentford in their last Premier League outing and Klopp has brought an update on his injured players ahead of the match.

On Nunez, Klopp told reporters (via the Liverpool Echo): “We are waiting for info. Not a major one but it kept him out of training, so we’ll wait for that.

“[James] Milner trained yesterday, back in normal training today. [Roberto] Firmino not. [Stefan] Bajcetic back today.”

When asked whether Liverpool will sign more players in January, Klopp replied: “I don’t think so. I talk about it because you ask but my job is to use the boys we have. No problem.

“I like the teams who line up. We cannot solve all problems in the transfer market. In a dreamland you just buy players.”

Klopp added: “I’ve had 6000 press conferences at Liverpool, I have to tell you again the money story?

“Why could it be the reason we have money like crazy and we still don’t buy players? You know the answer!”

“It’s not that we have so much money we don’t know what to do with but we think ‘ah we don’t need anyone’.

“It’s just not that easy, we cannot sort the problems [in the window] with injuries.”

Brighton have been impressive this season with the Seagulls flying high in eighth and Robert de Zerbi’s side can leapfrog Liverpool into seventh if they win on Saturday.

On Brighton, Klopp continued: “Brighton move the ball well, that’s true. All the games are really important now.

“It’s interesting, the second half of the season; two wins, lose a cup game, draw a cup game, lose a league game.

“Part of the performances we didn’t like [in those games].

“Brighton deserve respect. I don’t think anyone underestimates them anymore but who would have thought their possession stats would increase after Graham Potter [left].

“We have the chance to go their and cause real problems.”
