Klopp sack? Liverpool exit timeframe predicted by pundit ahead of vital few months – ‘he’ll be gone’

Simon Jordan thinks Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the start of next season if the club’s current woes carry over into the 2023/24 campaign.

Under Klopp, Liverpool challenged for four trophies last season. They were made to settle for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the end as they fell short in the race for the Premier League and Champions League.

This trophy pursuit has had a lasting impact on Liverpool, as they have endured a dreadful campaign in 2022/23.

The Reds exited the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup in disappointing fashion and they are now attempting to gatecrash the top four.

Liverpool hammered Man Utd 7-0 before the international break but they are winless in three games since that famous victory. They followed up losses against Bournemouth and Man City with a goalless draw at Chelsea on Tuesday night.

A year ago, it was announced that Klopp has penned a new contract that will keep him at Liverpool until 2026.

The German has a lot of credit in the bank given his incredible past achievements at Anfield but he will eventually come under pressure if Liverpool’s poor results continue.

Klopp will be tasked with rebuilding Liverpool this summer, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Chelsea’s Mason Mount among their transfer targets.

But ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan thinks Klopp could “be gone” by October if Liverpool are “in the same sort of position”.

“I think if Klopp starts next season and gets to October with Liverpool in the same sort of position, he’ll be gone,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“Everything comes to an end, he’s been there seven years. Eight years in October. He’ll have been there for a significant period of time and for the bulk of that time – certainly after years two and three – he’s done a remarkable job and produced a remarkable team.

“But these tail-offs come post Premier League-winning seasons and post seasons where they’ve dominated football like last year.”

Ex-Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann feels the club “won’t be any better next year” if Klopp remains in charge.

“I’m afraid that if Klopp decides to stay on, it won’t be any better next year because the owners at Liverpool never spend the money like other clubs,” Hamann told Sky Germany’s Sky 90 talk show.

“He wouldn’t have deserved that and this wonderful marriage between Liverpool and Klopp wouldn’t have deserved that.

“That’s why the best thing for both sides would be to make a cut in the summer. Listening to Klopp, he wants to do it, he thinks he can do it – but I have big doubts.”
