Spurs ‘start talks’ after Levy ‘green light’ ignites ‘huge interest’ in ambitious £69m Kane replacement
According to reports, Tottenham will ambitiously target Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani if they sell Harry Kane this summer.
With his contract now in its final year, there is a good chance Kane will leave the Premier League club in the summer transfer window.
He has been linked with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, though the latter appear to be the only side in for him at this stage.
United had reportedly made Kane one of their top targets going into the transfer window but quickly abandoned their pursuit over fears they would be sucked into a summer-long saga.
It now looks like the Red Devils will sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund as an alternative, with Bayern pushing to sign Kane from Tottenham.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly been put into a very difficult situation by the club’s majority shareholder Joe Lewis, who has informed the 61-year-old there is no way Kane should be allowed to leave for nothing in 2024.
This could force Levy into selling to United, which is one of his worst nightmares but not as bad as letting him join them on a free transfer in 12 months.

Fabrizio Romano says Erik ten Hag’s side are not actively pursuing Kane at this stage, which is a huge boost to Bayern, whose hand has been significantly strengthened thanks to Lewis’ demands.
And following this revelation, there have been reports on Monday linking Spurs with Frankfurt’s Kolo Muani, who would be a spectacular replacement for the England captain.
Kolo Muani has also been linked with Bayern – who have had two summer bids for Kane rejected – and Manchester United, in a move that could cost around £100million.
European transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri has said Kolo Muani will be Ange Postecoglou’s ‘priority target’ if Kane departs.
Talks have now ‘started’ amidst the club’s ‘huge interest’ following the ‘green light’ from Lewis to Levy to sell the 29-year-old striker, Tavolieri says.
Any deal would be worth around €80million (£69.1m), which is a cheaper deal than you would have expected, especially considering what figures have been mentioned in recent months.
Perhaps surprisingly given the level of interest and the fact Spurs do not have any European football in 2023/24, it is said Kolo Muani is ‘open’ to joining the Londoners.
The French international enjoyed a superb 22/23 campaign with Frankfurt, scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances.
He joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Nantes last summer, which will leave a sour taste in the French side’s hierarchy for years to come.
