Andres Iniesta has said he believes Kylian Mbappe would be a better fit at Barcelona than Erling Haaland with the Spanish giants linked with the pair this summer.

Mbappe and Haaland have quickly become two of the most in demand players in world football, but the Barcelona legend believes that Mbappe is better suited to the Spanish club’s style of play.

Mbappe scored 42 goals and registered 11 assists for Paris Saint-Germain last season in just 47 appearances and has been subject to many rumours taking him away from the Ligue 1 side.

England must ignore Germany past to make their own history

Iniesta spoke to El Transistor about the two attacker and had his say on who would be better for Barcelona.

He said: “Perhaps because of his characteristics Mbappe would fit better at Barca than Haaland.

“They are two very good players who are on everyone’s lips, we will see if they continue in their teams and do not change this summer.”

Barcelona are still hoping to tie Lionel Messi down to a new contract after the new signings of Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia from Manchester City.

The Catalan giants are said to be confident of renewing the Argentinian’s contract and will hope that any announcement will attract more talent to Camp Nou.

Mbappe has been coy on his future and is currently on international duty with France preparing for their last 16 clash with Switzerland on Monday night.

The PSG star’s contract is due to expire next summer, but despite not discussing exactly where his future lies he has said he isn’t sure if Paris is the best place for him.

He said: “I need to take the right decision, which is hard, and give myself the best opportunity to decide well,

“I am somewhere where I’m happy, I feel good. But is it the best place for me? I don’t yet have an answer.”

Despite the ambiguity around the World Cup winner’s future PSG’s chief executive, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has made it clear he has no intention of letting the 22-year-old go.

He said: “I will be clear: Kylian will be staying in Paris, we are never going to sell him, and he will never leave for free.”
