Fabrizio Romano says Paris Saint-Germain now “consider” Kylian Mbappe to be up “for sale” after excluding him from their pre-season tour of Japan.

Mbappe sent a letter to the French club’s hierarchy earlier this summer notifying them he will not be triggering the one-year extension in his contract, meaning he can leave for nothing in 2024.

The PSG bosses are obviously very upset with the player’s stance and are of the belief there is no chance he will leave on a free transfer.

It was reported that talks would take place and if new contract terms were not agreed the French international would be sold this summer.

A move to Real Madrid feels inevitable and a report from L’Equipe says PSG believe Mbappe already has an ‘agreement’ in place to join the Spanish club in a year’s time.

And it is now clear that the 24-year-old has reaffirmed his desire to run down his contract.

The French outlet adds that Mbappe has been left out of PSG’s squad for their pre-season tour of Japan and it is likely the forward will be ‘sidelined’ until the end of the transfer window.

It is believed that ‘several’ clubs have enquired about Mbappe, ‘although there is no indication as of yet regarding Mbappe’s stance on his future club’.

The news was also confirmed by Romano, who says PSG have officially put Mbappe up “for sale”.

Romano says PSG “feel Kylian Mbappe wants to leave for free in 2024”, which is an absolute no-go in the mind of the club’s hierarchy.

The Italian journalist also said: “Paris Saint-Germain are convinced that Kylian Mbappe has already agreed terms to join Real Madrid in 2024 on free deal.

“They wanted an answer on ‘new deal or leave now’ by July 15 — nothing at all.

“Mbappe, out of pre-season tour and considered FOR SALE.”

He later added: “PSG feel betrayed as they’re certain Kylian has already agreed a free transfer with Real Madrid. This despite Mbappe in interviews said he’d never leave PSG for free.

“Paris don’t want to be ‘paralysed’ by the demands of one player.”

Speaking earlier this month, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We want him to stay but he can’t leave for free.

“It was our oral agreement and he had expressed it publicly in an interview. So it’s not debatable. And I was really shocked to learn that he intended to leave for free.

“It’s very disappointing because Kylian is a fantastic boy, a real gentleman, and leaving for free, weakening the biggest French club, it’s not him. When I received this information, I was shocked and disappointed.”

Al-Khelaifi added: “That’s why he has to decide next week, or at most in two weeks. And if he doesn’t want to sign a new contract, the door is open. It’s like that for him and for everyone else. No one is bigger than the club, no player, not even me. It’s very clear.”
