Lamela eyes Premier League title and River return

Tottenham star Erik Lamela has insisted his future is at White Hart Lane despite rumours linking him with a move away from North London.

The Argentine has had a good season under Mauricio Pochettino, helping them towards Champions League qualification and a title challenge.

Despite making just nine Premier League appearances in his first season (2013/14), the former Roma man has risen to prominence, having made 33 appearances in each of his last two seasons with the club.

He was signed for £30million, and was dubbed as a potential replacement for Real Madrid bound Gareth Bale.

Lamela reiterated that he is happy with Spurs, and that he doesn’t see his future away from the club.

“Honestly I have my head at Tottenham, I’m very comfortable,” he told TyC Sports.”I’d like to stay here for one more year. We are a brave group, very competitive.”

He admitted that he would like to go back to River Plate at some point.

“I grew up in River Plate since I was seven. I’d like to go back, although I’m aware it will be in the future.

“Hopefully everyone can stay together so we can improve and win some titles. This year it was not possible but we were close and we will play the Champions League now.

“The balance is good. We are second, and a draw is enough for us to be the runner-up. It’s very positive.”

“Before starting, we just wanted to finish well. We are a young team that will continue to work hard to win the title next year.”

The 24-year-old has two years remaining on his contract, and was forced to deny rumours in December he was close to leaving the club.
