Everton boss Frank Lampard is reportedly plotting a late swoop for out of favour Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.

Lampard has quickly turned his attention to the transfer market having finalised a two-and-a-half year deal to become the new Everton manager on Sunday.

Manchester United star Donny van de Beek has agreed to join Lampard at Goodison Park on loan and is undergoing a medical having turned down a move to Crystal Palace.

The move for Van de Beek is thought to be a straight loan with no option to make the move permanent in the summer.

And now Mike McGrath of the Telegraph is reporting Lampard’s interest in bringing Jovic to the club.

“Everton considering Luka Jovic as a loan option from Real Madrid to strengthen Frank Lampard’s attack,” wrote McGrath.

“Player will be allowed to leave on loan. Everton can make foreign loans but no more domestic after arrivals of El Ghazi and Van de Beek.”

Jovic moved to Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt for £56million in the summer of 2019 and has struggled ever since.

He will be allowed to leave the Bernabeu on transfer deadline day having made just two starts this season.

But that report is at odds with claims in Spain, where it’s thought Jovic will be retained by Madrid.

Spanish publication Nacional claim Newcastle and Arsenal had both ‘asked about Jovic’ but that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ‘closed the exit door’ for the Serbian.

That’s because leading striker Karim Benzema has been letting off ‘alarms’ all season with the France international picking up little niggling injuries.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has urged Lampard to go after Dele Alli.

“Frank [Lampard] knows he needs some results. They are sucked into [the relegation battle]. He’s getting the boy from Man United hopefully, whose career needs resurrecting,” Redknapp said.

“His confidence is low, but there’s a footballer is there. We saw him at Ajax, the boy can really play.

“It’s up to Frank now to get the best out of him. He’s been linked with Dele Alli, I’d love to see him take Dele Alli and turn his career around.

“He’s a great talent, someone somewhere, and Dele Alli also, needs to get back on track. There’s a great player in there somewhere.”
