Leeds United are expected to continue to push to sign Club Brugge forward Noa Lang in January, as they look to avoid another Cody Gakpo-like disappointment.

Lang has publicly admitted that Leeds attempted to sign him as far back as the summer of 2021 and now it seems the Whites have reignited their interest.

Journalist Dean Jones says the Dutchman has “massive potential” and expects Leeds to try and secure a deal as soon as possible.

The 23-year-old began his youth career with Ajax, but after failing to break into their first team, went on several loan spells, eventually joining Brugge on a permanent deal in 2020.

Since, Lang has been in incredible form in the Belgian top flight, at times making playing in the division look easy.

In 101 appearances in total for Brugge, the left winger has scored an impressive 30 goals and made 29 assists, giving him an outstanding average of 0.58 goal contributions per game.

Lang is an exciting player to watch, too. He is pacey and direct, with the confidence to take players on and shoot from range. He also has an eye for goal, taking chances in and around the six-yard box.

Another similar player is Cody Gakpo, who Leeds have also been chasing for months now.

However, Manchester United remain the big favourites to sign the PSV Eindhoven forward, who dazzled at the World Cup for the Netherlands, as they reportedly prepare a £50m bid for the January window.

Jones, when speaking to GIVEMESPORT, said Leeds must avoid a similar fate with Lang.

He said: “They want to avoid that disappointment of suffering on someone like Gakpo and missing out on them and then seeing them linked with every big club in Europe, basically, the same thing will happen with Noa Lang.

“He’s got massive potential and is already doing really well, so I would expect them to push on with that soon.”

Indeed, Lang could be exactly what Leeds need as Jesse Marsch looks to add more attacking creativity to his side.

This season, the winger has netted four times in 16 outings alongside three assists for his team, continuing his form from the previous campaign when he scored nine and made 15 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

The Brugge winger has already got some excellent experience under his belt, too.

Fans of the Champions League in particular will have certainly noticed Lang has put in some fantastic performances in the competition over the past three years.

He was also part of the Netherlands squad at the World Cup. He only made one seven-minute appearance in what proved to be the Dutch’s final game – their quarter-final against the eventual winners Argentina – but again, this experience will only help him improve.

Ironically, he declared following that match that Lionel Messi and co would “not win the World Cup” because of their disgraceful behaviour during the penalty shootout.

Hmm… you might have got that one wrong, Noah.

Leeds are currently the favourites to sign the exciting Brugge winger on a £30m deal, but West Ham have also declared a recent interest in Lang, while Everton have made enquiries in the past, too.

Marsch will have to move quickly if he wants to avoid another Dutch disappointment in January.
