Leeds to loan out Shackleton

According to reports, Reading are among the clubs interested in signing Leeds United youngster Jamie Shackleton on loan.

The 22-year-old was born in Leeds and he signed for the Premier League side when he was just seven years of age.

Shackleton made his senior debut for the West Yorkshire outfit at the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

The youngster has proven to be a versatile player for Leeds as he has been used at right-back and in midfield in recent seasons.

Shackleton has been a bit-part player. He only started seven times for Leeds in the Premier League last term.

Football Insider are now reporting that Leeds are ‘open’ to letting him leave the club on loan.

It is claimed that Paul Ince’s Reading have ‘set their sights’ on Shackleton.

The report goes onto state that ‘a number of clubs have expressed an interest’ in signing the Leeds starlet.

Meanwhile, Leeds United are reportedly in ‘direct contact’ with Mohamed Camara’s representatives over a transfer from Red Bull Salzburg.

They are set to lose Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Chelsea and Manchester City respectively though. Both deals should be completed over the next week.

Camara has been identified as a replacement for Phillips. The defensive midfielder made the move to Red Bull Salzburg in 2018.

The 22-year-old has helped them win the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup twice in back-to-back seasons.

The Mali international played 36 times for Salzburg across all competitions last season. He started in all eight of their Champions League games as they reached the last 16 stage of the competition.

Ryan Taylor of The Express is reporting that Camara has been ‘excused from training’ so he can ‘resolve his future’.

Leeds are in ‘direct contact’ with the player’s representatives and he is valued between £17-25m.

Taylor adds that Camara ‘wants’ a move to the Premier League. He notes that Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘also in the mix’ after Yves Bissouma was sold to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
