Leeds will be without suspended defender Patrick Kisnorbo.
The Australian will serve a one-game ban following his straight red card for a foul on Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard on Saturday, so Leigh Bromby and Alex Bruce will be vying for a recall.
Manager Simon Grayson has no new injury problems, but has plenty to ponder with fit-again Luciano Becchio pushing for his first start since April.
Becchio has started the last two matches on the bench due to the form of forward pairing Andy Keogh and Ross McCormack, while two other strikers, Billy Paynter and Mikael Forssell, are also hoping to feature.
Paynter has not appeared since the opening-day defeat at Southampton, but is fit-again following a shin injury, while recent signing Forssell has made one substitute’s appearance.
Leeds will be looking for a repeat of their FA Cup heroics against Manchester United at Old Trafford in January 2010 when Jermaine Beckford’s solitary goal sealed an unlikely upset.
Michael Owen is set to make his first appearance of the season for United.
Sir Alex Ferguson will make a huge number of changes, with Paul Pogba and Will Keane amongst the youngsters who might be involved.
But there will be plenty of experience as well and Mame Biram Diouf and Federico Macheda may be joined by Park Ji-sung and Ryan Giggs.
