Leicester City forward Islam Slimani is due to have a “medical tomorrow” ahead of his move to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, according to reports in France.

Slimani scored 57 from 109 games for Sporting Lisbon between 2013 and 2016. In his final full season at the club, he netted 27 times from his 33 league outings.

This led to his big-money move to Leicester City. The Foxes broke their club-record fee to sign Slimani for £28m ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.

The forward made 28 appearances in all competitions for Leicester in his first season, but he only scored eight times.

His game time decreased in his second season, as he only made 12 Premier League appearances. Slimani spent the latter half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Newcastle. He failed to score from his four outings.

Slimani has spent the last two seasons on loan at Fenerbache and Monaco. The striker netted nine times from 19 for Monaco last year in a season disrupted by COVID-19.

He returned to Leicester ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, but he has only made one appearance so far this season.

The 32-year-old now appears set to leave the Foxes, with his contract set to expire this summer. French outlet Le Progres, as cited by Sports Witness, have reported Slimani’s move to Lyon is at a “well advanced” stage.

A separate report from Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Slimani is set for a medical at Lyon on Tuesday ahead of his proposed free transfer to the Ligue 1 side.
