When Riyad Mahrez was spotted watching Arsenal’s EFL Cup tie with Chelsea, people understandably put two and two together.
Mahrez has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal, although no bid came last summer.
The departure of Alexis Sanchez led to that talk being reignited, and the sight of Mahrez at the Emirates did little to dampen it down.
However, Leicester City manager Claude Puel says that he was aware of Mahrez being at the game; because he had sent him.
Speaking before Leicester’s FA Cup fourth round tie, Puel said that he told Mahrez to go to the game on a scouting mission. Doesn’t he have actual scouts for that?
“I asked Riyad to watch the game to make the report. They were scouts,” Puel said.
“There is nothing to say about Riyad, or Slim or any other player.
“At this date, no moves on the squad, but we will see until the end of the month.
“At the end of January I will be happy. Finished about this question.”
