Leicester loss ‘could speed up Arsenal interest’ in Mourinho

A loss against Leicester City at the weekend could see Arsenal look to bring in Jose Mourinho, according to reports.

Mourinho has emerged as an unlikely candidate to replace Unai Emery as the current Arsenal boss continues to struggle in the post.

The Emirates Stadium was mentioned as a potential next managerial destination for Mourinho, who has been out of coaching since being sacked by Manchester United last December.

But now The Times claims that he is being considered as an option by Arsenal as Emery’s future at the club stands in the balance.

And the latest report in Le10Sport (via the Daily Mirror) claims that the process to bring Mourinho into the club could be ‘accelerated’ on Saturday if they lose to the Foxes.

Fifth-placed Arsenal would see a nine-point gap open up to Leicester in the Premier League table if Brendan Rodgers’ men defeated them.

Mourinho is recently reported to have ‘impressed’ Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi at a dinner last week with ‘his plans for the squad.’

And Le10Sport adds that Sanllehi is friendly with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes with that relationship potentially providing a platform for the deal to happen.
