Leicester snap up Ghokan Inler

Leicester City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Ghokan Inler from Serie A outfit Napoli for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £5 million.

Switzerland captain Inler joins the Foxes on a three-year contract having passed his medical at the KingPower Stadium on Monday, although he is still waiting on international clearance from the FA.

The veteran enjoyed a successful 4-year spell with the Partenopei, where he won two Coppa Italias and One Italian Super Cup and was reportedly chased by a number of Premier League clubs before joining the Foxes, a decision he feels was the right one.

“I’m very happy and proud to play here because we’ve been in discussions for a long time,” he told Leicester’s official website after his unveiling. “I’ve spoken with the manager and I’m very happy to be here because it’s a nice team. I’ve watched them lots of times and I like them.

“For me it was not so easy because I had many, many teams (chasing me) but in the end I decided with my heart and I came to Leicester City.

“I feel this is like a family. I saw the games and the fans are behind the team, and I like this very much. My impression is very positive. The team fight every minute and I like it because the fans want this. We must show them this every game on the pitch.”
