Leicester City and Aston Villa are among the clubs interested in Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha, according to reports.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks with Man City and he made his senior debut for them during the 2017/18 season.

Nmecha has had loan spells with Preston and Middlesbrough in recent years.

The worst Premier League XI at the European Championship…

The forward spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League. He enjoyed his best term to date on a personal level as he bagged 21 goals from 41 outings across all competitions.

Belgian journalist Filip Joos has told Sporza that Nmecha will not spend another season at Anderlecht. He went onto name Leicester, Aston Villa and more clubs as possible next destinations for the youngster:

Joos said: “Logic dictates no. Kompany can have a positive effect, but does that help? Anderlecht will only play (Europa) Conference League next season.

“I don’t think (Man) City will draft Nmecha next season. Such teams want another intermediate step.

“Then I think of Leverkusen in Germany. Or Aston Villa or Leicester City in England. If it comes to Brentford or Southampton, Nmecha will also think twice.”

Elsewhere, Kevin Campbell has insisted that Youri Tielemans would be a “brilliant” signing for Liverpool:

The Reds are likely to be in the market for a new midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum. He has left the club this summer upon the expiry of his contract. He is set to join PSG.

“Tielemans would be a brilliant signing.

“I think he would fit in at Liverpool perfectly. He will add more of a goal threat as well, especially from range.

“He is a very good footballer and he would be very capable filling the void left by Wijnaldum.

“Listen, when you are Liverpool and you lose a player like Wijnaldum you have to replace him with quality. Wijnaldum is so underrated and when he is not there Liverpool miss him.

“Klopp will buy right though. He knows what he needs and he will purchase correctly.”
