Leipzig confirm January stance over Liverpool-bound Keita

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have once again reiterated that Naby Keita will not be allowed to join Liverpool in January.

The Anfield club agreed a deal with Leipzig for the midfielder to join at the end of the season after they triggered his £48million buyout clause.

The possibility of the 22-year-old joining Liverpool in January has also been mentioned, with Klopp eager to strengthen his midfield in the new year.

However, Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has ruled out the possibility of an early switch for the former Red Bull Salzburg man.

“Even if we should not reach the knockout stages of Champions League, it would make no sense to allow Naby to join Liverpool earlier,” Rangnick told Leipziger Volkszeitung.

“We want to qualify for Europe again, and we need Naby for that.”
