RB Leipzig have poured cold water on reports Liverpool were close to securing an early deal for Naby Keita.
The midfielder is due to link with the Reds in the summer after a £48million deal was arranged last year.
There have been reports that Liverpool were close to securing a deal that would see them pay extra to secure the services of the 22-year-old this month. But Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuettl insists that is not the case.
Hasenhuettl said: “There is nothing new about this situation and so that speculation is not true.
“Nothing has changed and our position hasn’t changed from before regarding this transfer.”
Liverpool are keen to bolster their ranks during the January transfer window having lost Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £145million.
