Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has appeared to confirm that Chelsea will sign Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz this summer.

Sane finally made his long-awaited move to Bayern from Manchester City after a two-year pursuit earlier this month, in a £54.8million deal.

Havertz, meanwhile, has been courted by a number of clubs but recent reports seem to suggest that Chelsea are the main club now looking to secure a deal for the German.

Speaking during his unveiling as a new Bayern player, Sane suggested that Chelsea had already signed Havertz as well as Germany team-mate Timo Werner.

Sane said (via The Metro): “I think Germany has always had very good young German players. I can’t answer why they’re looking at young players now.

“Many young players get their chance and develop well in the Bundesliga. I think that with Werner and Havertz, which are two Germans in one year, Chelsea did a good job. Germany has good youth work and the whole world knows that. That is of course attractive for the teams abroad.”

Bayern beat Chelsea 3-0 in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash and Sane is certain the Bundesliga champions can challenge for Europe’s premier competition.

Sane added: “Winning the Champions League is generally difficult. Bayern has done it a few times. I was looking for something new, a new attraction. It was clear to me that if I made a move, it would be a club that could win the Champions League.

“Bayern certainly can win the Champions League. The team is at a top level. Hansi Flick has done very well. You can see on the pitch that everyone is having. So that was the right decision for me.”
