Dirk Kuyt has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp for implementing a high pressing system at Liverpool following their 4-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Reds ran riot over the Gunners, scoring three second-half goals after Sadio Mane netted 39 minutes in.

Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino were also on target as Liverpool ended Arsenal’s eight-match unbeaten run in the league.

Klopp’s side pressed the Gunners relentlessly throughout Saturday’s match, forcing Mikel Arteta’s team into numerous errors.

Nuno Tavares made a crucial error in the second half; passing straight to Jota in the final third, who slotted coolly past Aaron Ramsdale.

And Kuyt, who was renowned for his work rate during his time as a Liverpool player, said: “One of the biggest qualities of this Liverpool team at the moment is the way the team does the high press.

“The intensity of it, how they recover the ball and create chances from it is just so impressive.

“I thought Diogo Jota’s press moment for the second goal against Arsenal was amazing. But then you recover the ball and need to slow down.

“When you press, you need to do it at 110 per cent but when you have the ball and need to beat a defender and then the keeper, you have to be a little bit more calm and slow down a bit. It’s such a tough skill but amazing to see, not only from Jota but Salah and Mane as well.

“Seeing how the fans react to the way the team presses the opponent is so important, too. It’s like having an extra man on the pitch.

“Knowing from experience, it really helps to have the crowd behind you when you’re giving absolutely everything you’ve got to press high.”

Meanwhile, Danny Murphy has commented on rumours linking West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen with a move to Anfield.

“I did hear those rumours and I was a little bit surprised,” he told MyBettingSites (via West Ham Zone).

“If you’re talking about Salah leaving, Salah doesn’t sign a new contract and someone came in with huge money, do I think Liverpool supporters would be content with Bowen coming in and filling in his shoes, I’d say no.”
