Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold

Gary Lineker has dubbed Liverpool pair Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah as ‘world class’ after their performance against Leeds United on Sunday.

Both players combined for the opening goal in the match with Salah converting Alexander-Arnold’s assist from close range.

The Egyptians goal was his 100th Premier League strike, making him the 30th player to reach the landmark.

Early loser: Aston Villa – a positive performance ruined by more mistakes

He is the fifth-fasted player to reach 100 goals, doing so in 162 matches.

Trent provided an excellent assist for the goal, bringing great praise from former player Lineker.

He wrote on Twitter: “Yet another goal for @MoSalah. Yet another assist for @TrentAA. 2 genuinely world class footballers.”

Elsewhere, Gary Neville has admitted to being wrong about Liverpool when he claimed they would be unable to compete on all fronts.

The Reds have a manic few weeks coming up with the return of the Champions League and Carabao Cup, totalling seven games in 22 days.

And Neville was asked if he thought the German would alter his side for their match against AC Milan on Wednesday after previously being sceptical of Liverpool’s ability to compete on all fronts.

“I think it was three or four years ago when I said I didn’t think they would be able to compete in the Champions League and the league and they proved me wrong”, he told Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s match with Leeds.

“Because of the way they play, Liverpool, the fact that they haven’t got a massively strong squad in terms of loads of depth, and the difference between the first eleven and below that is quite big, I thought they would struggle.

“They’ve proven over the years that they can handle it. I don’t see an issue for them. I think this [Leeds] game suits them today, it’s a really good game to play.”

Following their victory against Leeds they will face AC Milan in the Champions League midweek before playing Crystal Palace on Saturday.
