Liverpool set to receive £40m offer in Saudi double swoop as Reds replacement ‘overpriced’

Fabinho could join fellow Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson in moving to Saudi Arabia this summer as reports claim Al Ittihad are set to a ‘concrete offer’ for the Brazilian.

Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing Henderson to Al Ettifaq and reports claim Henderson is ‘leaning towards’ accepting the ‘life-changing’ proposal.

Al Ettifaq’s offer would reportedly quadruple the midfielder’s current wage, seeing him earn a whopping £700,000 a week.

At this point, everything seems to be down to Henderson. The clubs have not yet met to discuss a deal, as they’re waiting on the green light from the player himself.

If they get that, David Ornstein states the clubs will ‘immediately hold talks’ on the deal.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano added that the potential deal is at a crucial period, as sources close to the negotiation say it’s “in progress” while Romano also states Henderson “will speak” to Jurgen Klopp today.

And Ornstein now claims Liverpool could also lose Fabinho this summer, with Al Ittihad’s ‘concrete offer’ for the 19-year-old ‘expected to be woth £40m’.

The report states ‘it is anticipated a decision will move quickly one way or the other’ and that ‘Liverpool’s main opposition to any move would be letting their starting No 6 leave without a replacement’.

Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer but have seen James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all depart, while Fabio Carvalho has joined RB Leipzig on a season-long loan.

The departures of both Henderson and Fabinho would leave them very light in midfield and would mean the Reds would have to make further additions.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is thought to be their preferred option in the defensive midfield role, with the 19-year-old wanting to join Liverpool and Klopp is keen on the ‘big prospect’ having held talks with him.

But according to The Athletic, despite ‘retaining an interest’ in Lavia, Liverpool ‘believe the Belgian teenager is significantly overpriced at £50m’.

Should Fabinho join Al Ittihad he will join former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema at the Jeddah-based club as well as Jota, who arrived from Celtic earlier this month.
