Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister claps the fans

Liverpool have a ‘full agreement’ in place to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton after activating his release clause, according to reports.

The Argentina international has had a brilliant season for the Seagulls, helping them to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history, while he was part of Lionel Scaloni’s side that won the World Cup in Qatar.

There have been rumours that a number of Premier League clubs are interested in his services this summer but it now seems that Liverpool have moved early to secure his signature.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs revealed earlier this week that Liverpool are moving fast in order to avoid a late hijack from another club.

“Liverpool are confident of landing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Talks are pretty advanced. This is no surprise given Liverpool have a clear and firm plan in place for this summer and always like to get their business done early,” Jacobs told Caught Offside.

“Mac Allister has made it clear to Brighton that he wants to leave since after the World Cup. The club won’t stand in his way, but I do expect them to get a decent price. They handled the Mac Allister situation smartly by getting him to extend just before the World Cup thus protecting his value. Liverpool now want to move fast to avoid any late suitors attempting to hijack.

“Schmadtke will come in having to deal with plenty of interest in Fabio Carvalho. Liverpool don’t want to sell but may be open to a loan deal.

“There are Premier League clubs who admire Carvalho, including Aston Villa and Wolves, whilst RB Leipzig have already had an offer rejected to buy the 20-year-old. Liverpool are calm about the situation and their summer.”

And now Football Insider insist that Liverpool have activated Mac Allister’s release clause in his contract with the Merseysiders set to pay Brighton ‘between £55-60million for his services’.

They have also reached a ‘full agreement’ with the Argentinian and Mac Allister ‘will sign a triple-your-money contract worth in excess of £150,000 a week’.

Football Insider add: ‘It is believed the deal will be finalised soon and he is set to become Liverpool’s first summer signing.’

After their final day loss at Aston Villa, Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi admitted that Mac Allister and in-demand team-mate Moises Caicedo had probably played their final game for the Seagulls.

De Zerbi said: “I think that can be the last game of Alexis and Moises, I’m really sorry. They are two great people and two great players.”
