Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has criticised Jordan Pickford for his style of goalkeeping after his challenge on Virgil van Dijk.
The centre-back’s season could be over after Pickford’s full-blooded tackle caused him to limp off in the Merseyside derby that finished 2-2 at Goodison Park.
The Liverpool players were left angered by the tackle which went unpunished at the time and escaped further action from the FA.
And Alisson claims Pickford needs to show more control when making challenges.
He told Sky Sports: “Every goalkeeper has a different way to play and a different way to move.
“But in that moment, 100 percent, it was not a necessary movement.
“Thinking what I have in my mind when I go for a situation – I go to finish the situation. If I go too soft, I know the opponent can score.
“But everyone has their own way to go for the ball. I don’t agree with that way [Pickford on Van Dijk] – everybody can see that. It was just an unnecessary moment and movement.”
