Jurgen Klopp has explained why he “loves” long-term Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe.

Klopp and Mbappe will face off on Tuesday as Liverpool host Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener.

It will be the first time the two have faced off, with Mbappe never having played Liverpool in his fledgling career.

That has not stopped Klopp developing what he calls a “love” for the teenager, who he has tried to bring to Anfield twice.

“I love him, to be honest, he’s a fantastic player, a very good boy and what a player, what a player…” the Reds manager told RMC Sport, according to Sport Witness.

“I think that all European football has known him since he was 16-17 when he was playing with the young team from Monaco.

“He’s been playing at a very high level for his young age, and he’s showing all the time that he’s a very well educated young player and he knows what he’s doing.”
