Serie A defender’s agent claims Liverpool ‘will make’ a bid after warning against Anfield transfer
Patrick Dorgu’s agent has claimed that Premier League side Liverpool “will make” a bid for the Lecce defender this summer.
The Reds have already sealed the signings of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer with Jurgen Klopp eyeing more deals.
Dorgu spent last season on loan at Lecce from Danish side Nordsjaelland and officially joined the Serie A side on July 1 in a €200,000 deal.
The Denmark youth international didn’t play any senior matches for Lecce and instead made 38 appearances across all competitions for their Under-19s side.
And there is understood to be a lot of interest in his services, despite his lack of senior experience, with his agent Kingsley Ogbodo predicting Liverpool “will make” an offer.
When asked by Sport Italia if any offers have arrived for his client, Ogbodo replied: “No, they haven’t made any offers, but it is very likely that Liverpool will make one. I don’t know if it will happen, but they are interested and they like the player.”
In another interview in Denmark last month, Ogbodo touched on interest from Liverpool but advised the 18-year-old against a move there.
“Liverpool want him. Liverpool have been watching him and interested in him for some time, but if he goes there he’ll have to play in the U23 team,” Ogbodo told Danish outlet Bold.
“It’s not the best for him, so I advise him not to do it. They can offer him a lot of money, but that’s not what we’re looking for right now. We focus on his career, development and playing time.”
Ogbodo also warned Liverpool of interest from other clubs, especially in England, with Barcelona also keeping an eye on Dorgu.
The agent added: “Liverpool are of course not the only club that want him. There are many clubs here in England who are keeping an eye on him.
“Manchester City kept an eye on him when he played against England for the U19 national team in Hobro in Denmark.
“Lecce’s scout has also told me that Barcelona is also keeping an eye on Patrick, because he’s a huge talent.
“We’d like him to stay in Lecce a little longer. Two more seasons so he can mature and gain experience. So when he moves on to a bigger club in a few seasons, we will know at that time that he is ready for it.”
