‘Feeling’ Liverpool will ‘push’ for ‘unhappy’ Man Utd transfer target ‘in the next days’
Liverpool are expected to make a concrete move for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.
The Reds started off the transfer window in good form with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai joining to cover the losses of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
But they are still looking for another midfielder before the transfer deadline following the unexpected departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.
Jurgen Klopp has brought in Japan midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart in an £18m deal but Liverpool are hoping to sign one more before the transfer deadline on September 1.
There have been numerous rumours but Bayern Munich’s Gravenberch has been consistently linked with a move to Anfield and Manchester United.
And Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that the Netherlands international is “unhappy with his situation” at the Allianz Arena and there is a “feeling” that Liverpool “could push” for him in the final days of the transfer window.

Plettenberg tweeted: “Feeling is that Liverpool could push for Ryan #Gravenberch in the next days! #LFC Bayern is waiting for concrete offers as he’s the No. 4 in central midfield under Thomas Tuchel.
“Gravenberch wants to play regularly and is unhappy with his situation. The player has not been informed of a potential swap deal so far. Gravenberch, one to watch until Deadline Day.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also brought an update on Gravenberch’s situation, he wrote in his Caught Offside column: “His future only depends on Bayern. As reported ten days ago, Manchester United and Liverpool both asked his agents to be informed if the situation changes as they like Gravenberch.
“Now it’s up to Bayern whether they want to keep Ryan or let him leave. It depends on the German club’s decision. Liverpool and Man United are both ready to approach Bayern as they approached Gravenberch’s camp recently – that’s the current situation.”
But former Liverpool goalkeeper David James reckons Klopp could allow Man Utd to have Gravenberch this summer as the Reds already have “a lot of young players”.
James told GGRecon: “Liverpool already has a lot of young players in their squad. Jürgen [Klopp] could let him go to Manchester United, it won’t be a problem this year.
“I don’t believe that Liverpool needs to stock up on players for the future at the moment because they already have plenty of young players at their disposal already. Liverpool needs to make sure that they get things right and get themselves back in the Champions League for next season.”
