Kylian Mbappe has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid.

According to reports, Liverpool are attempting to beat Real Madrid in the race to sign France international Kylian Mbappe from Ligue 1 giants PSG.

Mbappe is on the market this summer as he has already informed PSG that he does not intend to extend his contract beyond 2024.

The World Cup winner has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for a few years and it is expected that he will move to the La Liga giants on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.

The attacker has reportedly been offered an obscene €700m salary to join Saudi Pro League side Al Alhi but he has ‘refused’ a move to the Middle East.

Mbappe is thought to be an admirer of Liverpool but their chances of getting him are pretty slim given how much it will cost to get him.

This is the case for most Premier League clubs and at this stage, it is difficult to see him signing for anyone other than Real Madrid next.

Yet if the bullsh*ters over at Spanish outlet Nacional are to be believed (they really shouldn’t), Liverpool are in the mix to sign Mbappe.

Liverpool are ‘in the auction’ for Mbappe as they are attempting to ‘make things difficult for Real Madrid’.

The Premier League giants have even ‘come forward with a proposal of 200 million euros’ and this is ‘just the amount that PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaïfi demands’ to let Mbappe leave.

This bid ‘will be instantly accepted’ by PSG as they ‘have no choice but to offload him this summer’ given his stance on a new contract.

Liverpool’s position is said to be forcing Real Madrid into a ‘final decision’, but the English club’s ‘most complicated mission will be to convince Mbappe to forget the possibility’ of joining the Spanish team.

To tempt Mbappe into a move, Liverpool’s apparent grand plan is to ‘offer him an exorbitant salary, guarantee that he will be the star of the project and Jurgen Klopp will assure him that he will play as a left winger’. All things that would likely be offered by Real Madrid, mind.

PSG are hoping for a ‘resolution as soon as possible’, while Real Madrid would have to ‘match’ Liverpool’s offer to acquire Mbappe.

Fabrizio Romano is a far more reliable source regarding transfers and we should probably take him at his word that “nothing has changed” regarding Mbappe. And anyone who actually thinks Liverpool have a spare 200 million euros lying to get him should have their heads checked.

Romano told Caught Offside: “Mentioning strikers, for Kylian Mbappé I have many questions from you asking me if the Saudi’s from Al Hilal are going to try again.

“At the moment Al Hilal got a no from Kylian Mbappé and so they are no longer negotiating with the player side.

“Their bid of €300m – accepted by Paris Saint-Germain – remains valid incase Mbappé changes his mind, but at the moment the message is still the same: nothing has changed. Mbappé doesn’t want to speak to Al Hilal.
