Liverpool, Fulham seek summer solution after Jan deal ‘collapses’

Liverpool have failed to beat the transfer deadline to sign Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho.
The Reds have been negotiating a deal with Fulham throughout the entirety of deadline day and had agreed on a €10m deal.
A deal was in place for a five-year contract to be signed, however, a deal has fallen through despite a medical being completed on Monday night.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter: “Fabio Carvalho deal has collapsed. Medical done in Liverpool but paperworks were not fully signed before the Deadline.
“Clubs had full agreement but they knew they where in a ‘race against time’. Liverpool, Fulham and Carvalho will try to find a solution for summer move.”
Liverpool are still very likely to agree a deal to sign Carvalho, who is out of contract at Craven Cottage in the summer.

As per Paul Joyce, the two clubs will negotiate a pre-contract agreement for the winger to move to Liverpool in July.
He wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool did not complete Fabio Carvalho deal with Fulham by deadline.
“However, if all parties agree there can still be a pre-agreement for the player to move to Liverpool in July. There is no immediate time pressure for that agreement to be reached.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has joined Championship side Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old impressed for the Reds last season while they were without injured defensive trio Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
Phillips played 17 times in the Premier League during the 2020/21 campaign. He has fallen down the pecking order this term though.
He has only started one game this campaign. That came in the Champions League group stages against AC Milan.
With game time scarce, the centre-half has joined Bournemouth for the remainder of 21/22, Liverpool confirmed on deadline day.
