Liverpool hold ‘concrete talks’ over €130m move for Man Utd target
Liverpool have been in discussions over a possible move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Kai Havertz, according to reports.
Havertz, who became the youngest Bundesliga player to reach 50 appearances last year, has followed up his 20 goals last term with three strikes and one assist for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.
The 20-year-old also scored his first goal for Germany in a 2-2 friendly draw with Argentina in October and his impressive run has seen him linked with both Liverpool and Manchester United.
Man Utd were thought to be lining up a move for Havertz, with youngster reportedly Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s “number one target in January”.
Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the Germany international.
SportBild said at the end of November that the atmosphere at Liverpool ‘captivates’ Havertz, while the presence of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield has given the Reds an advantage in the race to sign him.
And now Bild (via Sport Witness) claims that Liverpool have held ‘concrete talks’ with Havertz and his representative.
Havertz, whose contract expires in 2021, will command a fee of around €130m if Leverkusen can get Liverpool or another club to pay their huge wage demands.
However, Sky Sports said on Wednesday that Havertz is ‘enjoying his time at Leverkusen’ and is in no rush to leave.
