Liverpool target Gavi during a match for Barcelona

Liverpool are interested in signing FC Barcelona wonderkid Gavi, according to reports in Spain.

The 17-year-old made his international debut on Wednesday evening as Spain beat Italy 2-1 to advance to the Nations League final.

He put in an excellent performance in Milan to help La Roja end the Italians 37-match unbeaten run which went back to 2018.

Barcelona remain focused on symptoms rather than causes

Gavi reportedly has a €50million (£42.4m) release clause in his contract – which runs until 2023.

The player is eager to develop at Barcelona. However, Liverpool are desperate to sign him, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional [via HITC].

The report also states that the Reds will face competition from Manchester United and Paris St-Germain.

Dubbed as a player very alike Barca legend, Xavi, in the HITC report, Gavi played 85 minutes as Spain cruised to victory against Italy on Wednesday.

The match was made easier for Luis Enrique’s side when Azzurri captain Leonardo Bonucci was sent off in the first half.

La Roja were already in control of the match, and the sending off put them into cruise control, despite conceding a late consolation goal.

Elsewhere, Celtic winger Liel Abada has got his eyes set on a move to Liverpool, only three months on from signing for the Glasgow club.

Speaking to Sport5, Abada says he is focused on Celtic, but admits he would love to join Premier League giants Liverpool in the future.

“My dream was and remains to play in England, in one of the teams in the Premier League,” he said.

“The biggest dream is Liverpool, but I have to keep working hard here to prove myself.”

The Israel international signed from Maccabi Petah Tikva for a fee in the region of £3.5million in the summer transfer market.

The Hoops have signed numerous players with ties to the Israeli game, including Efe Ambrose, Rami Gershon, Hatem Abd Elhamed, Ismaila Soro, Beram Kayal and Nir Bitton.

The 20-year-old has started well at Parkhead, also contributing to six goals in eight matches in the Scottish Premiership.
