Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been boosted by news that the injury to Fabinho is not as bad as first feared, according to a report.

The Reds’ latest defensive setback came around the half-hour mark of Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League win over Midtjylland when Fabinho – playing at centre-back again in the absence of Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip – had to be substituted having pulled up while running.

When asked afterwards what the early signs were in terms of the severity of Fabinho’s injury, Klopp said: “I don’t know. You know, muscle injuries are like this – you get the result, but tomorrow morning probably. So we have to wait for that.”

Both Van Dijk and Matip sustained injuries in the 2-2 draw at Everton on October 17 – the former a knee problem that is set to sideline him for a number of months.

Liverpool faced a nervous wait to see the extent of their injury and now the Daily Mirror claims that Klopp has been given a ‘ray of hope’ after the scan on Fabinho’s injury came back ‘not as serious as first feared’.

The Brazilian had his scan on Wednesday morning and the results revealed that it was ‘only a grade one or two’ hamstring tear.

A grade-three tear would’ve ruled the midfielder out for up to six months but ‘he could well be back straight after the upcoming international break’.

So Patrick Bamford got us thinking about absolutely random Premier League hat-trick goalscorers. Justice for “busy” Kevin Lisbie.
